français

EXCERPTS FROM THE ENGLISH TOURIST BOARD'S QUALITY ASSESSMENT FORM DATED 25th MARCH 1999. See also the second updated report in September.

At the recent visit, an assessment was carried out under the Crown Scheme and the Harmonised Standards and set out below are some notes on the general quality aspects discussed during the visit.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Exterior

This quietly located, attractive modern property enjoys a good setting in well-tended gardens. There is sufficient, convenient parking to the front, which has reasonable lighting and security.
The building presents very well on arrival, with outside elevations in very good decorative order and with attractive, well-tended gardens adding to the very good first impression.

Public Areas

The hall, stairway and landing are very well decorated with appropriately painted walls and very good picture relief, all well coordinated with very good quality carpeting and furnishings.
Lighting is good and the thermostatically controlled heating should be effective.

The dining room is a fine room, with very good decorations and elegant, quality furniture and furnishings together with very good quality carpeting.
Table appointments are good, and crockery, glassware and cutlery are very good quality and well presented with fine linen napery.
Natural light is good and fine fittings and lamps provide very good artificial lighting. Again thermostatically controlled central heating should be effective. All together a very pleasant atmosphere is created.

Standards of cleanliness throughout the public areas are excellent.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms are of mixed size but the double room is a very good size with plenty of room to relax. Decorations are in fine condition, with very good quality wall covering enhanced with pictures and other additions.
Furniture and fittings are very good, with fine curtains and high quality carpeting. In addition, ornaments and personal touches set the rooms off very well.
There is good natural light, and overall artificial light is sufficient from good quality fittings.
The beds are very good with supportive mattresses offering a high degree of comfort. Bedding is very good and well coordinated with surrounding furnishings and beds are dressed with very high quality linen, which is well laundered and presented.
Plenty of clothes hanging space is provided in fine wardrobes and hangers are good and plentiful.
A very good range of accessories is provided, again with many personal touches, to add further to the very good standards of guest care.
Cleanliness is excellent, with attention being paid to details.

Bathrooms

The bathrooms are quite spacious and very well decorated. Fixtures and fittings are very good and maintained in first class condition. Lighting is good and linen is very good quality.

There is plenty of shelf space, and flooring is comfortable and well fitted.
Complementary toiletries and accessories, attractively displayed, to the general level of guest care provided.

HOSPITALITY SERVICE AND FOOD

Initial telephone contact was good and the welcome, on arrival, was very friendly. General friendliness afterwards was good.
Good tourist and other local information are provided and overall standards of hospitality appear very good.
Although not sampled on this visit, the selection offered and arrangements made suggest that a high quality breakfast is offered, with very good service.

GENERAL COMMENT

The committed owners provide very good overall standards of quality and hospitality, which well merit the award of the HIGHLY COMMENDED Grade at this first visit.

The fine standards of housekeeping, the many personal touches and a good appreciation of guest care, earn the Potential Grade of 4 DIAMONDS under the Harmonised Standards for the future.

THE PROPERTY IS A CREDIT TO ITS OWNERS AND TO TOURISM IN THE AREA.

EXCERPTS FROM THE ENGLISH TOURIST COUNCIL'S QUALITY ASSESSMENT FORM DATED 29th SEPTEMBER 1999

Following on from the recent overnight visit, a quality assessment has been carried out using the new Harmonised Standards method for Guest Accommodation. As a result Wendy Wood has achieved a 4 DIAMOND rating.

This follow on report from the initial harmonised visit of March 1999 confirms the provisional assessment of that time. The property continues to be very well maintained and guest care and comfort is uppermost in the proprietors' minds. Bedroom accommodation is very good indeed with quality furnishings and fittings, all of which are in top condition. Housekeeping and general cleanliness standards in all areas of the house were noted as very good with good attention to detail.

At the previous day visit in March of this year it was not possible to assess the service and hospitality elements or the food provision and quality, and so these aspects are commented on below.

The telephone booking was well handled and a very friendly greeting received on arrival. All aspects of the room facilities were fully explained along with the very welcome offer of tea, which was subsequently served in the conservatory.
Good registration procedures are in place.

Breakfast, served in the dining room offers a good selection of those cooked and cold items normally associated with an English breakfast. All food arrived hot at the table and was served on pre-warmed plates where appropriate. Portions were generous and this enjoyable meal was rounded off with toast and home made preserves.

Service was friendly and efficient, and the overnight account presented for payment. Altogether a very comfortable and pleasant stay that would encourage and promoted a return visit, and the rating indicated above is given with complete confidence.
